Although Kenya is best known for its CTC-style teas, typically sold in the form of tea bags, the Kangaita garden has established a very interesting, orthodox-style vintage here. This black tea’s bright red liquor is strong, full-bodied and delicious without being too robust. Its aromas of malt and toast&mdashtypical of the Assam tree trees from which it’s made&mdash intermingle with notes of bay leaves, pepper, plums and cherry tomatoes. A modest, balanced black tea that may be enjoyed on its own or with milk.
